Government key project funding to Oulu – Improved recycling of nutrients through new technological solutions

The objectives of the project are the modification and industrial-scale testing of a new innovative and patented drying and granulation technology developed by SFTec Oy and Rakeistus Oy. The new technology is intended to dry and granulate organic materials.

The project is a joint project of SFTec Oy, Rakeistus Oy and the Natural Resources Institute Finland (LUKE). The objective of the project is to build a production-scale demonstration environment, a so-called demonstration plant, for the handling and commercialisation of organic biomass. The demonstration plant concept creates a platform to combine the know-how and innovations of Finnish SMEs into an operational entity and to simultaneously develop and commercialise these innovations as a package. The concept also aims to meet the needs of both small-scale and industrial businesses and entrepreneurs by developing together an all-inclusive technological solution for the improved recycling of nutrients from various organic wastes, reject and by-product flows.

The project is one of the key projects of the Finnish Government, as a part of the recycling of nutrients pilot programme. The project term is from 1 October 2017 to 31 August 2019. The authority granting and controlling project financing is the South Ostrobothnia Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment(ELY).
